The NFU has launched a survey seeking your views on the release of White-tailed eagles on Exmoor.

It includes questions about what consultation you may or may not have received, your thoughts on White-tailed eagles and how we can help.

The Roy Dennis Wildlife Foundation and Forestry England have been working to restore white-tailed eagles to southern England through a licensed reintroduction project on the Isle of Wight. To strengthen the growing population, the project now hopes to carry out a small number of further releases in partnership with the ENPA (Exmoor National Park Authority).

White-tailed eagles once bred naturally on the Exmoor coast, where the mix of coastal woodland and fish such as grey mullet offers excellent conditions for the species. The Roy Dennis Foundation are proposing to release up to 20 young eagles on Exmoor over a three-year period, using the same methods as on the Isle of Wight. This would require licences from Natural England and NatureScot, as well as ongoing collaboration with local stakeholders.

The online survey will take approximately six minutes to complete, and we'd really appreciate your participation. Results from the survey will be used by the NFU to feed into further consultations.
