Wendy, from Trevedra Farm, near Sennen, was nominated for the award, which is sponsored by NFU South, alongside Hannah Jones from the Farm Carbon Toolkit.
Judges were very impressed with both finalists but Wendy’s attention to detail in her work with the farm's beef herd, sheep and arable enterprises, successful farm diversifications - including a caravan park and storage facilities - and the rural community carried the day.
She actively engages with schools, providing educational visits to demonstrate modern farming practices and to increase understanding of food production. The farm also supports military personnel through rehabilitation initiatives, reflecting Wendy’s broader sense of social responsibility.
The judges said: “Beyond the farm business, Wendy is held in the highest regard by her peers. Her work with the wider agricultural community really is something special, with charity events and tractor ‘dyno days’ to get farmers off farm to socialise with like-minded people.”
Wendy was presented with her award by county chair Ashley Jones during a ceremony held at the Eden Project.
The Cornwall Farmer of the Year award was won by Ben and Sam Parker of Callestick Farm Ice Cream, who also won the Best Farm Processor category.
Other winners included the Jenkin family (Best Dairy Farmer), Inez Williams-King (Best Woman in Agriculture), D J Keat & Son (Best Commercial Farmer), Tom Chapman (Best Farm Worker) and Jack Marchant (Rising Star).
