Countryside Kitchen: Farm, Food, Fork includes almost 80 recipes that use British seasonal ingredients, as well as profiles of farmers and fascinating facts about food and farming.
Farmers featured in the NFU-produced book include north Norfolk farmer Tim Papworth, Cambridgeshire farmers Tom Martin and Ollie Bartlett and Bedfordshire grower Whizz Middleton.
NFU Regional Director Robert Sheasby said: “This is more than a recipe book. It takes readers on a journey from farm to fork, offering an insight into the people who produce our food and highlighting the huge pride they take in delivering the best ingredients to our dinner tables.
“The farmers featured from our region grow crops including potatoes, wheat, carrots, parsnips and oilseed rape. That represents just some of the diverse range of produce grown in East Anglia, by farm businesses that employ more than 40,000 people across our region.”
The book includes a foreword from Countryfile presenter and farmer Adam Henson, who urges the public to celebrate all that’s great about British food and farming and to reconnect with the British seasons.
He writes: “Everyone is touched by this innovative sector, from the milk in their tea to the ingredients for their favourite dish, but people have become disconnected with how their food is produced and the best time to buy it in season. That is what this recipe book is all about.”
Countryside Kitchen is published today (Monday 9 October 2017) and it can be purchased via the NFU Countryside website for £15.95 plus P&P.
