Lincoln and Gainsborough NFU have raised £300 which will be split between Lincolnshire’s own charity, the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and the national farming charity, R.A.B.I.
And Horncastle and Coningsby branches raised a fabulous £3050 which will be donated to R.A.B.I. The money was raised at the branches’ two social events, the Horncastle NFU Ball and the Coningsby Dinner and Dance, together with the annual “guess the price of feed wheat in November” sweepstake.
Receiving the cheques at the Lincolnshire Show, representatives of the two charities were grateful for the fundraising efforts.
David Creasey, vice chairman of LRSN said: “Every donation we receive makes a difference in Lincolnshire. Our work is vital for families and individuals who find themselves in difficult circumstances, for whatever reason. And we are finding that raising funds for our auction mart health screening services is an on-going challenge.”
On behalf of R.A.B.I., Lincolnshire committee chairman, Hugh Wykes said: “We are indebted to everyone who raises funds for R.A.B.I., especially through farming events: we often say that farming is like one big community and it’s true – farmers helping farmers is at the heart of both who we are and what we do.”
