Watch out for rogue tarmac gang

While it seems the gang may have moved on, if members are confronted by them they should not agree to any work, however tempting the price might be. Report it to the police and county trading standards without delay. The demands made can be very unpleasant and the more details the Police have the more evidence they have to clamp down on this sort of extortion.

In mid –March, a rogue tarmac gang were operating both sides of the county border in the Market Harborough. Several members were challenged in a threatening and intimidating way as they were targeted. Thousands of pounds were demanded with menaces, and the gang knew no boundaries in terms of who they made their demands to in the farming family’s they harassed.

While it seems that the gang quickly moved on, if members are confronted by rogue traders they should not agree to any work, however tempting the price might be. They generally have a totally fictitious approach that quotes a low price and at best you get a sub-standard job that you will feel cheated about, especially when then demand thousands to complete. Report it to the police and county trading standards without delay.
