Each major party holds its annual conference in the autumn – Conservative, Labour, Lib Dems, and Reform. These events bring together ministers, MPs, advisers, party members, think tanks, journalists and stakeholders for a few days of debates, discussions and networking.
Whether it’s talking about the impact of devastating changes to inheritance tax, food security, the importance of fair trade for UK farmers, or the future of sustainable British farming, we will use this time to bang the drum for our members.
Hearing direct from NFU members
This year, the NFU is hosting a breakfast event at each of the above conferences. We have key speakers from each of the parties secured and will bring farmers along so delegates can hear directly from our members.
We are also working with other partners to provide additional platforms at fringe events or receptions for our officeholder team to talk about the challenges and opportunities for our sector.
So, while the rest of the country is thinking about back-to-school and autumn leaves, we’ll be out on the road to Birmingham, Bournemouth, Liverpool and Manchester to make sure farmers’ voices are heard.
It’s a busy season – but one that really counts.

NFU fringe events
Fringe events are a chance for members to get involved.
We are hosting fringe events at the Labour party conference. We are bringing together a range of speakers to discuss the party’s vision for the future of domestic food production and the policies needed to support a thriving agricultural sector.
