A group of members recently held a Brexit briefing meeting with MP for Carlisle John Stephenson. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the needs of the industry and to gain support for the NFU’s Brexit proposals.
Hosted by dairy farmers Richard and Jennifer Workman together with their son Matthew, those present were able to discuss what Brexit will mean for North Cumbrian farmers and the local economy. John has now signed the NFU Back British Farming pledge and will also be attending further meetings into the New Year. If any members would like to be involved with the next round of meetings then please do not hesitate to contact the Carlisle NFU office on 01228 523 034.
