NFU Discovery Barn to attend Cheshire Show 2021

Families will be able to enjoy the NFU's Discovery Barn at this year's Royal Cheshire Show on Saturday 31 July.

The NFU Discovery Barn is a mobile trailer, which combines games and fascinating facts for primary school children to learn on their own without teachers or assistance. The activities have been carefully created to educate children about the realities of farming, such as tractors and technology. It is all about offering a true representation of farming in a way that children can understand.Discovery Barn at Wombridge Primary School Nov 2017_48733

NFU North West Communications Adviser Carl Hudspith said: "The NFU in the region usually has a large Let's Talk Farming marquee at the Royal Cheshire Show provided by a dedicated team of  NFU Cheshire farming members. The award winning marquee is normally full of livestock and other farming attractions. Sadly, due to the pandemic and restrictions, we've decided to scale back our offering to just the Discovery Barn for 2021 for the safety of staff, members and our visiting families.

"We plan on sending a couple of regional staff to observe and be present on the day of the show, but everything else will be managed and delivered by Learn by Design.

"I know for many this will be disappointing news, but let’s look forward to returning to the show bigger and better in 2022."
