European Commission proposes anti-dumping duties on liquid nitrogen fertilizers

The commission is taking this course of action as it believes that dumping on the EU market is taking place, however European farmers’ organisation Copa believes that it is global price trends that have caused UAN prices to lower rather than dumping.

The proposed anti-dumping duties would result in increased costs of fertilizer for European farmers.

The chair of the Copa Working Party on Cereals Jean-François Isambert said in a statement that the proposed duties would add about €2 billion to the costs of fertilizer in the EU and that farmers will therefore end up paying more for what is already an increasingly expensive input.
