NFU expert to share Brexit policy-making priorities

Dr Helen Ferrier will contribute to a discussion of the measures which might boost domestic food production. She will outline priorities for policy-makers in safeguarding sustainable high standards, negotiating new trade deals and repositioning the UK food and drink ‘brand’.

The University of Oxford’s Prof Charles Godfray and representatives of the RSPB, Food and Drink Federation, AHDB, Knowledge Transfer Network, Monsanto and the legal profession are among the speakers, along with parliamentarians.

The seminar will consider the way ahead for UK food security policy, in the context of Brexit negotiations, wider international agreements and domestic policy.

It follows the announcement of an Agriculture Bill aimed at supporting UK farmers after the UK leaves the EU, and FSA proposals for future food regulation which include plans for an enhanced system of registration to better identify and manage risk across the food chain.
