Preparing for Brexit: Updated guidance for livestock businesses


Defra has produced updated guidance for the farming sector on how to prepare for the UK's departure from the EU, including the possibility of no deal. 

The guidance includes a short animation on how the farming industry can prepare and a fact sheet of key information for livestock farming businesses. Two versions of guidance have been produced, one for livestock farmers and the other for arable and horticultural businesses (linked to below).

The fact sheet includes information on:

  • farm and rural payments
  • employing EU citizens
  • tariffs and trade with the EU
  • labelling
  • animal welfare
  • animal breeding
  • marketing standards 
  • recognition of qualified professionals eg Vets
