NFU North welcomed new Assistant Environment and Land Use Adviser Hannah Sutcliffe to the team in February.

Hannah, from Calderdale, gained a degree in Physical Geography at Manchester Metropolitan University, followed by a Masters in Environmental Monitoring, Modelling, and Reconstruction at the University of Manchester.

Hannah has worked full time on her family’s small organic dairy farm for the past two years.

Hannah said: “I’ve worked on the farm on and off my whole life, but this period of time really reminded me how passionately I feel about farming and the environment. We recently sold our milking herd and while I’m still involved in the farm (we are now breeding organic dairy heifers) I’m also pleased to be in a role with the NFU that will utilise my qualifications.

“I'm really looking forward to putting these two bits of my life together as part of the environment team here at the NFU, and helping with all the work they do in the farming industry.”
