New resources for Buy My Turkey Day 2026

A cooked roast turkey with a slice carved off, sat on a plate with roast potatoes and stuffing, and bowls of parsnips and sprouts in the background.

This year marks the 10th year of the NFU's #BuyMyTurkey Day – a day all about celebrating British turkey meat and producers ahead of Christmas.

The NFU's #BuyMyTurkey Day is a hugely successful social media campaign that promotes buying local and British turkeys for Christmas.

This year, the campaign promotes four key messages:

  • Encourage people to ask their butcher if they are selling British turkeys.
  • The benefits of buying a whole bird.
  • Use the NFU's Turkey Finder to buy a local turkey directly from the farm gate.
  • Look out for the Red Tractor logo when buying from a supermarket.

We'll be celebrating #BuyMyTurkey Day on 4 December. Keep scrolling to find out how you can play a part in this year's campaign.

A message from the Seasonal Poultry Group Chair

NFU Seasonal Poultry Group Chair Jonathan Smith said: “#BuyMyTurkey Day is a celebration of all the skill and dedication that goes into producing high-quality food.

“It is also a reminder that by choosing British, the public are supporting farming families and rural communities across the country.

“This year we want to highlight the connection between the farm gate and the festive table.

“A whole turkey is not only a fantastic centrepiece, but also a sustainable choice at a time when many families may be keeping an eye on spending. It is versatile, nutritious and perfect for creating meals well beyond Christmas Day.”

Follow us on social media
