Guests enjoyed hot bacon rolls and refreshments as the session began.
Senior Agent Ian Mandle opened the event with a warm welcome and an overview of the services provided at Carlisle NFU. Attendees then heard from Cumbria County Adviser Catherine Stokes, who outlined the benefits of professional membership.
NFU North Regional Policy Manager Helen Forrester shared insights into her new role and provided an update on the NFU’s work surrounding IHT. North Regional Board Chair William Maughan spoke about the value of the NFU, his role, and how and why he got involved with the organisation.
Finally, NFU Economist James Thompson offered a detailed look at the current state of the agricultural economy, including important trends in industry profitability and productivity.
The speakers were followed by discussions and networking.
At the end of the event, each attendee received a goody bag which included a range of merchandise, flyers and a sausage roll from local butcher Steven Wilson.
