Ruth is currently on secondment to the NFU Dairy Team as Chief Dairy Adviser for 6 months. However, Ruth joined the NFU in 2015 as the NFU's Chief Food Chain Adviser, a role she will resume following her time with the Dairy Team. Within this role Ruth is responsible for leading the NFU’s work with all of the UK's national retailers, large brands, oversight of the NFU’s work with the GCA and labelling policy. Alongside her responsibilities at the NFU Ruth holds the role of Vice Chairman of the EU COPA COGECA Food Chain Working Group, where she has key to lobbying for the EU Directive on Unfair trading practices in the food supply chain.
Ruth joined the NFU from Tesco where she held the role of agriculture manager, where she’s able to deliver new models and contracts within the supply chain e.g. feed tracker contracts at farm level. Ruth has worked in the food and drink industry for over 10 years and began her career within the processing holding roles within the egg and beef sector. Ruth takes a specific interest in ways to increase fairness within the supply chain for farmers.
