AHDB, QMS and HCC are encouraging producers to fill out their jointly funded sheep survey to help them understands the distribution of breeds across the UK and help inform genetic research.
Recording began in 1971 and has helped track breeding structures and mating trends within the UK. A paper copy has been sent to all registered with British Wool and the online survey can be found here.
You will be asked to provide details on the different sheep breeds you currently have on farm split down into different groups such as shearlings, ewe lambs, mature ewes and tups. Results from the survey will be published in Spring 2021.
The Breed Survey will remain open until 11 January 2021. If you haven’t received a copy by 31 October 2020 then you can contact AHDB for a copy via email c2lnbmV0QGFoZGIub3JnLnVr, phone 02476 478829, or alternatively you can download a copy from the Signet website.
