Recent Commons communications

Sheep grazing, Yorkshire Dales_16128If you claim BPS on common land, you might have received some recent communication from the RPA.These are explained below.

BPS 2016 - If you have rights on a common and declared them on your 2016 BPS application, RPA may be in contact if these rights are different to what they believe you hold. We would advise you to respond as soon as possible and provide any evidence as directed. Only a small minority of commoners will be contacted, so please do not worry if you don't receive a letter.

BPS 2015 - Common land data & calculation methodology on Gov.uk RPA has published a pdf showing the BPS eligible areas of English commons and the total livestock units available. It can be found here, additional guidance to explain this can be found here.

SPS - additional SPS entitlements & Payments If you submitted form CLP15 to claim for SPS entitlements and associated payments on common land for:

  • SPS (2009 to 2014)
  • Hill Farm Allowance (2010)
  • Uplands Transitional Payments

You many have recently received a letter from the RPA, updating you that RPA will start working through these claims in early 2017. RPA will contact you again in 2017, to let you know if you have been successful or not.
