The NFU Organic Forum helps to steer NFU policy and act as a sounding board on all matters specifically concerning organic members. Members on the forum act as a representative voice for their region, as well as nationally.
The scope will cover policy areas including, but not exclusively; organic regulations & policy, organic standards & certification and organic market opportunities as well as addressing practical challenges and constrains faced by the sector.
The Forum consists of 8 appointed members, each representing their region including Wales.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Raise issues to the Forum on behalf of members
- Represent the Forum at external events, as appropriate.
- Participate in and report back to their respective regional board on relevant Forum matters.
- Support the NFU through dissemination of information and communication with NFU members
- Read in advance all papers that are relevant to the work of the Forum and provide feedback and/or guidance as required
- Be on email, for purposes of communication. Most communication will be electronic.
- Respond to requests for information from NFU staff
- Respect the confidentiality of the Forum.
All applicants must be NFU members.
Meetings take place 4 times a year, usually March, June, September and December, typically held at NFU HQ, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
Members are expected to attend all meetings.
Members of the Forum can claim a day rate and travel expenses to attend Forum meetings, in line with the existing NFU member expenses policy. Additional meetings will be eligible for travel costs only.
