Irish organic market shows return to growth

A report released by the Irish Food board shows the organic market in Ireland has grown by 2.1% in the last year.

The report shows that organic sales have remained relatively stable in the country over the past six years, albeit these sales figures are still short of the market highs of 2010 when sales reached 106 million Euros.

On consumers, the report indicates that the main buyers are female and that 2 thirds of consumers want to see a specific organic section within stores.  73% of Irish consumers said they would be further interested in buying organic produce if it was locally produced.
