Animal health Bill to be scrutinised in parliament

02 December 2021

Houses of Parliament

A new animal health Bill plans to improve enforcement of standards and provide new, more consistent, penalties by extending penalty notices to all kept animals.

A Private Members' Bill on animal penalty notices put forward by Andrew Rosindell MP is being supported by the government and Defra, with the NFU supportive in principle.

The Bill aims to give the government the ability to create new financial penalties for certain animal health and welfare offences.
