Whenever possible try to ensure that high-risk manure is spread on arable land rather than pasture.
Before spreading ensure that high-risk manure or slurry has been stored for a suitable length of time.
Before allowing sheep or cattle to graze recently spread fields ensure a suitable length of time has passed. Suitable waiting times should be discussed with your vet.
Avoid using hired or shared spreaders if possible. If sharing is unavoidable, ensure spreaders are thoroughly cleaned before coming on your farm and cleansed again before leaving.
