During March, the Treasury published the UK Government's RAP (Regulatory Action Plan).
The RAP, aimed at simplifying and modernising the regulatory system to support economic growth, focuses on reducing bureaucracy, improving regulatory efficiency, and adapting to technological advancements.
As part of the RAP, the HSE has committed to reviewing the LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) 1998 and ‘identify and remove unnecessary regulatory burdens, and identify potential changes to this legislation to reflect technological advances and reliability of work equipment’.
What will the HSE do with your feedback?
This call for evidence seeks to collect information and insights that the HSE will use to:
- Identify and lessen unnecessary regulatory burdens, helping businesses save time and money while maintaining safety standards; and
- Assess whether the current implementation of the regulations keeps pace with technological developments.
The NFU will be responding to the consultation and seeking members’ views to inform its response. You can read more about the consultation on: HSE | Call for Evidence to Review Lifting and Pressure Systems Regulations.
The deadline for feeding into the NFU’s response is 12 noon on Friday 31 October.
Those wishing to submit their own response should do so before 11:59 pm on 11 November.
