A West Lancashire horticulture business is spreading festive joy this Christmas by growing over 20,000 poinsettia plants.

The plants - which are known as a traditional Christmas variety due to the vibrant red, white and pink blooms - have been carefully nurtured in the nursery’s glasshouses over the last few months.

Arden Lea Nurseries, which has five sites across Preston, in Lancashire, supply all their poinsettias to local supermarkets including Booths and garden centres for customers to enjoy high quality homegrown plants over the festive season.

Sarah Fairhurst from Arden Lea Nurseries said: “We’re proud to support local retailers and bring a splash of colour to people’s homes this Christmas.

“Growing poinsettias is a delicate process, and our team has worked hard to ensure every plant meets the highest standards.

“We take great pride in producing natural plants that are not chemically altered/dyed, which are sold locally in the region and it’s really pleasing to see our produce in the local supermarket.”

The farm which has over 13 acres of glasshouses grows plants all year round, supplying major retailers such as B&Q and other garden centres across the region, showcasing British horticulture and helping customers choose locally grown plants for all seasons.

Lancashire County Adviser Aarun Naik said: “West Lancashire is a thriving region for horticultural farm businesses, offering fertile soils and a supportive local network.

“Lancashire growers play a vital role in supplying quality plants and produce, and it’s great to see supermarkets and garden centres backing British farming.”
