The LR (Landscape Recovery) scheme will look at long-term large-scale land-use change. We've updated our briefing outlining the scope of LR, timelines and funding.

LR (Landscape Recovery) is part of Defra's ELMs (Environmental Land Management scheme), along with SFI (Sustainable Farming Incentive) and Local Nature Recovery. It is in an early stage of development, and it will be 2024 before it is widely available.

LR aims to support large-scale land-use change for the long-term with funding from public and private sources, producing environmental and climate outcomes through habitat and ecosystem restoration.

Defra has approved 22 pilot projects for the first wave of development in the LR pilot.

More detail can be found in the NFU briefing: ELM Landscape Recovery – Scheme Outline and Next Steps of Development.
