Cumbria’s AGM took place on the 23rd of November at Rheged. This year was a less formal event held within the Forty Farms exhibition and it proved very popular with sixty members in attendance. Article written by NFU Cumbria County Adviser James Airey.
It was possible to look around the exhibition, which contains various photos from forty farms across the seasons in Cumbria.
It’s a truly inspiring look at agriculture through the lens of Amy Bateman and it certainly showed the fantastic diversity of farming that goes on in our county. Those in attendance welcomed Sussex farmer and new NFU Vice President David Exwood, who was guest speaker for the evening.
David gave a polished performance and brought us up to date with events and work going on at NFU HQ and wider afield.
It was good to hear about the continuing lobbying work in Westminster by the NFU. In these difficult times it is important to have such a strong and serious voice for agriculture.
