NFU Yorkshire West Riding members Rachel Coates and Guy Poskitt

The importance of community and collaboration in agriculture will be brought to the fore at the first-ever Yorkshire Farming Conference, held by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.

NFU Deputy President David Exwood and Yorkshire West Riding members Guy Poskitt and Rachel Coates will join the conference line-up at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on Wednesday 28 January.

NFU Deputy President David Exwood will chair a session entitled ‘Farming safe - farming strong.’ Led by the Yorkshire Rural Support Network, the session will be a fresh take on farm safety and wellbeing – featuring real stories and actionable tools, framed around both physical risks and mental health.

Yorkshire arable farmer Guy Poskitt of Mark H Poskitt Ltd is joined on the bill by keynote speaker, farmer and author James Rebanks, Richard Barker of Lingy Moor Farming Ltd, regenerative farmer advocate Mike Powley and Graham Potter of W Potter and Sons.

Dairy farmer and Great Yorkshire Show Director Rachel Coates will chair ‘Behind the Scenes of Showing’ on behalf of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s Women In Farming Network. The panel will include serial show winner Anna Pennell and showing judge Ashleigh Fenwick. There will also be a session on mentorship and personal development with first generation farmer Stephen Frankland, farm administrator Megan Hall and Nuffield Farming Scholar Helen Wyman.

As well as a wide range of talks and workshops, there will be a trade show and farmers can claim BASIS and NroSo (CPD) points at the event. The NFU will have a stand as part of the event’s trade show.

Tickets for the Yorkshire Farming Conference are available to purchase online in advance only and are priced £25 + VAT. A discount is available for group bookings of 10 or more. To buy tickets, or to see the full conference line-up, visit: yorkshirefarmingconference.co.uk.
