Group Secretaries were thanked for their dedication to members at the NFU North Regional Conference in Leeds on Friday 5 December.

Eight Group Secretaries were recognised with awards for going beyond the call of duty and for their commitment to the Group Secretary role.

The Alnwick group office clinched the award for highest achieving office of the year, which was presented to Jane Potts and Miriam McGregor.

Kendal Group Secretary Chris Davies, Barnard Castle Group Secretary Caroline Coatsworth, Stokesley Group Secretary Greg Proll and Whitby Group Secretary Clare Pybus each won awards for their work supporting members in 2025.

NFU North Regional Network Manager Rob Lea, who presented the awards, also gave thanks to retiring Group Secretaries Robert Nobles (Huddersfield) and Helen Fletcher (Halifax), who have served for 67 years between them.

Rob said: “Thank you to the Group Secretaries for their support to members in 2025. It is a privilege to be able to share the individual cases that deserve recognition, highlighting the often-unseen value that the network provides locally to members and their families in a time of need.

“Thank you to Robert and Helen for all their years’ of service to members. Robert started in 1991 and Helen started in 1992. Between the two of them they have been stalwarts in their local areas. They’ve been committed for all those years. They really are embedded in the NFU and the people around them.”
