Denis Parton's funeral will take place in Nantwich Church at 11am on Tuesday 4 October.

Denis’ roles in the NFU had been many and varied. He was NFU Beeston Castle branch chairman for two years before becoming Cheshire vice chairman, Cheshire deputy chairman and finally Cheshire county chairman in 1995.

He served on the NFU’s national employment and education committee as well as the parliamentary, land use and environment committees. His last role for the organisation was NFU North West regional management board chairman.

Alongside his NFU work, Denis had been a passionate member of Round Table, a founder member of Tarporley Rotary Club, was a governor at Reaseheath College, and a council member of the Cheshire Agriculture Society.

He started farming on his own and built up a successful dairy business as a tenant. Many of the positions he held were voluntary which indicates that he cared more about the issues than his own benefits.
