Avian Influenza Secondary C&D – Option 2

Use our Secondary C&D decision tool to help you find the best option for your farm business.

This option is likely to take most businesses around five to six months to complete, including the time required for primary C&D and restocking. Please note that every farm business is different and there are a range of factors that could affect the time taken to complete secondary C&D and restocking.

Option 2 can be the most appropriate option for seasonal businesses.

Following effective C&D, which will be confirmed by your case officer/veterinary inspector through testing, you will be required to wait for a minimum of 3 months and 21 days before restrictions are lifted.

Once this is done you can restock birds on your farm, which will be monitored for AI. Following negative tests and an absence of clinical signs of disease in the birds, you can apply for restrictions to be lifted.
