World Egg Day 2025 – help celebrate the mighty and nutritious egg

Friday 10 October is your chance to raise the profile of British poultry farmers by joining us in celebrating World Egg Day. Find out how you can get involved in this cracking campaign and help pay tribute to the versatility and nutritional benefits of the humble egg.

The NFU Poultry Board is encouraging members and egg producers nationwide to take to social media and help spread the word on the importance of eggs in a balanced diet.

This year’s theme is ‘The Mighty Egg: Packed with Natural Nutrition’ and aims to celebrate the many health benefits consumers can get from eating eggs.

By getting involved in World Egg Day you will help to raise the profile of British poultry farmers, and the vital role the sector plays in offering a nutritional and healthy staple in our daily diets.

Small but mighty

NFU Poultry Board member Phill Crawley said: “Eggs may be small but they are certainly mighty. Packed with essential vitamins, amino acids and high-quality protein, they are a vital part of a healthy, balanced diet.

“British poultry farmers take pride in caring for their hens which shows in every egg. Whether scrambled, poached or baked into something delicious, eggs deserve their place at the heart of our diets.

“On World Egg Day, we’re proud to celebrate the British egg sector and remind shoppers to look for food assurance schemes – such as the British Lion, Laid in Britain and RSPCA Assured – as a trusted sign of quality, bird welfare and food safety.”

How to get involved

The NFU will be showing support for this year's World Egg Day by asking members to share their producer stories on social media on the day – Friday 10 October

This can be a post or a video and can be as creative as you like – make sure to mention the nutrition each humble egg provides and let us know the many ways you enjoy your eggs.

To help with social media posts, members can download any of our ready-made graphics and use them to share the positive messages of this year’s campaign. Alternatively, why not share your favourite egg dish on your social media?

Images and videos

Videos are a great way to engage or interact with your audience. You could record yourself out on farm answering some topical questions such as:

  • How do you keep your hens healthy?
  • Why do you enjoy being a poultry farmer?
  • What do you feed your chickens?
  • What is your favourite way to eat eggs?

Images should be varied and of interest to the target audience to make the posts stand out.

  • This can vary from egg production on farm to the food creations made using eggs.
  • If you are a poultry farmer, focus on posting images/videos of your farm, hens and eggs.
  • If you enjoy eating eggs, why not include a picture of your favourite dish or a video of how you have cooked it.
