Grimsby to Walpole overhead line – have your say

Updated23 July 2025

Electricity pylon

National Grid is consulting on the Grimsby to Walpole overhead line to Lincolnshire. The NFU wants to hear how you would be affected by this before 30 July to help feed into our response.

This project is part of National Grid’s Great Grid Upgrade. The project proposes the construction of a 140km overhead line between North East Lincolnshire and North Norfolk including new substations.

National Grid says the infrastructure is needed to reinforce the network, and to connect new sources of electricity in the area, including offshore wind, solar, gas-fired generation, and subsea links from Scotland.

If you would like to raise any issues that you are having with National Grid on this scheme with the NFU, please highlight these using the form below by Wednesday 30 July 2025. You can jump further down this page to read more about the background on this consultation.

The NFU will hold an online meeting to discuss your concerns about the project on Wednesday 30 July at 12pm. Register now.
