As the war continues to disrupt fossil fuel supply chains, the NFU is urging the government to address agricultural energy costs and contract prices.
We have also made clear to government that looming standing charge increases will seriously harm UK production, especially with energy and fuel costs already rising due to the conflict in Iran. We’re calling on the government to look again at the increases to electricity standing charges, which alone could add up to £1 million in additional costs for some growers. Government should act to ensure standing charge tariffs do not disproportionately affect farmers and growers.
