NFU seeks nominations from dynamic and forward thinking members to join the Horticulture and Potatoes board and influence the key policies that impact on growers' businesses.
With the ongoing work around Brexit, and Defra’s aim to develop a 25-year plan to grow more and sell more British produce, there has never been a better opportunity to influence the future of the Horticulture and Potatoes sector!
And now is your chance to get involved!
The NFU Horticulture and Potatoes Board consists of 10 nominated members, with a rolling process of annual appointments which enables continuity of membership while allowing the opportunity for new, enthusiastic and passionate members to join.
In 2017 there are four positions to fill on the board and the appointment process is now open for interested members. Our aim is to get a good balance of crop sectors represented on the board.
NFU board chairman Ali Capper said, “It’s a great time to get involved. 2017 could well be a pivotal year for our industry with challenges such as access to labour, and opportunities like getting more retailers to make a pledge to support UK growers. The NFU Horticulture and Potatoes board has a real voice in the industry and we need to keep attracting dynamic, forward thinking individuals to represent their sector. I would particularly encourage applications from growers who produce protected edible crops and protected ornamental crops to support our ongoing work.”
