NFU Vice-president Robyn Munt has highlighted the shared challenges facing farmers around the world following a visit to Kenya for the WFO’s (World Farmers’ Organisation) annual meeting on 8–11 June 2026.
Representing UK agriculture at the event, the NFU Vice-president met delegates to discuss common issues including rising input costs, extreme weather, biosecurity and the threat from disease.
NFU Vice-president Robyn Munt said: “Whether managing a farming business in the UK or operating a smallholding in East Africa, farmers everywhere are battling the exact same issues.
“The trip gave me the ideal platform to meet representatives from some of the 80 farming organisations from around the globe that form the WFO, to discuss solutions and opportunities where there is common ground and how we can help all farmers in an ever-changing political and regulatory landscape.
“Food security is a global responsibility, and by continuing to forge relationships and strengthening our ties with our international peers, we can build more resilient, profitable, and forward-looking farm businesses here at home.”
“It's really important for us to continually look outward to find the solutions for our members and think about how we can continue to forge the relationships that will help our farmers here in the UK.”
