After we started our campaign, more than 110,000 peoople signed our petition calling for a ban and 200 councils across the country showed their support by banning the release of sky lanterns on council-owned land.
We also joined forces with a range of leading farming, environment, animal and fire organisations, including the RSPCA and National Fire Chiefs Council, to campaign for a permanent government ban.
